Janusz Kacerka is a graduate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Technical University of Lodz. He wrote a master's thesis on "Optimal control of a separately excited DC drive." His doctoral thesis "Control of a separately excited DC drive by changing armature voltage and excitation current" was awarded by the Ministry of Science.

He completed postgraduate studies at the Technical University of Lodz in the Institute of Computer Science in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology as well as a Polish Academy of Sciences course in applied mathematics "Selected problems of the theory of optimal processes and examples of their applications" and AutoCAD programming courses.
